Acceptable: Most insect bites need nothing more that keeping clean. If the bites have been excoriated (scratched) the risk of infection rises and antibiotic ointment (e.g., neosporin) can be a part of risk management to reduce chances of infection.

Insect bite. Red raised bump and then often itchy rash extended out about 1.5 inches to left (no bullseye). If it was Lymes would it have kept expanding? Would it also have faded away after two days of Neosporin if it were Lymes? No other symptoms?
