can ultrasound detect colon cancer?

1 doctor answer
Dr. Paxton Daniel

Rarely: Sometimes ultrasound will see a colon mass but this is uncommon. Spread of colon cancer to the lymph nodes or liver would be more common to see than the tumor itself.

The best way to detect, and even prevent, colon cancer is colonoscpy. During the test, pre-cancerous polyps can be removed, which will eliminate your risk of the polyp developing into cancer.
