Depends: It depends on multiple factors, the biggest being the type of operation. Was it laparoscopic or open. Laparoscopic patients can usually return to most activities except strenuous things within the first week. Open patients can sometimes take up to 2 or 3 weeks. If the appendix was ruptured can influence this answer as well.

Depends: That depends on if the surgery was done laparoscopically or through an incision, and on what type of work you do. Most people go back to work sooner after laparoscopic appendectomy, within 1-2 weeks, but lifting no more than 5 lb for 6-8 weeks. After "open" surgery, folks can return to work 2-3 weeks later, but no lifting, as above.
