Ask your surgeon: Best to ask your surgeon. Each has their recommendations & can depend on the type of surgical site closure (external sutures or not). I usually allow baths or showers about 24 hr after surgery, but each surgeon is different.

Ask your surgeon: Even though the incision length is smaller for a lap appy, you want to avoid baths for at least a few weeks, to make sure that the skin has healed/sealed. I personally have my patients wait 2 weeks before submerging the incision. Showering is ok immediately afterwards. That being said, ask your surgeon because everybody has different recovery protocols.

When to take bath: It is fine to take a bath after the surgical wound is completely healed and sutures or staples have been taken out. If sutures are still in or wound is open, there is a risk of infection. Until that time, please take a shower not a bath.
