Yes!: An underbite can be predictably corrected in adults using a combination of corrective jaw (orthognathic) surgery and orthodontics. Many of my patients are adults, and, while they dislike wearing braces, they tolerate it. But definitely the answer to your question is a profound yes. You should see a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon for a full evaluation.

YES!: Orthodontists treat adult underbites all the time. The severity of the underbite is key. If it large, then ideally braces with jaw surgery (mandibular set-back) is warranted. In cases where it is not possible or not wanted, a less ideal method would be skeletal anchorage and removal of the lower lower first bicuspids. This yields excellent anterior results, but leaves molars less so. It is viable.

Underbite: Absolutely. If your underbite has a dental component it may require extraction of permanent teeth. If there is a skeltal component you may need jaw surgery.

Yes: If it is a small underbite (1/4 inch or so) it can usually be done without surgery. If it is more than that, it might require orthognathic surgery along with orthodontic treatment.

Yes: An underbite can be corrected in the adult with orthodontics. If the underbite is severe then orthognathic surgery may also be invovled.

Absolutely: Ask your dentist to refer you to an orthodontist who will quarterback your treatment. Sometimes correction can be done non-surgically, sometimes an oral surgeon will become part of the treatment team. Please go see an orthodontist to become fully informed.
