Get assessed: Anytime you have a newly found growth, you need a physical exam. It may be something concerning, or it may be a trigger point. Trigger points can present as a small nodule, often just lateral to the spine in the muscles, and pressing on them can cause shooting pains to other areas, and occur with spasms. However, with any new type of growth, you will need a physical exam to be sure what it is.
