A member asked:

After contracting hiv, when does weighloss occur as symptom?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

HIV: Acutely infected persons may lose weight during the first 6-12 weeks, but this seldom lasts. The "wasting syndrome" with progressive weight loss usually occurs in later stages of illness when the CD4 count is lower than 200/ml, but is highly variable and there is no definitive predictability.
