Trochanteric Bursa: Yes! trochanteric bursitis can cause buttock, back and hip pain. The muscles that insert into the bursal area are the hip abductors which are above and behind this area in the buttock. The pain may cause walking changes called trendelenberg gait (compensated or uncompensated). The can lead to problems with the back and hip joint area due to the abnormal walking.
