Risk increases: Weighing surgical options may be harder when you are older. Complications tend to increase with age secondary to physical factors such as the health of the heart, lungs and kidneys. There also may be problems with recovery after the fact when one is older. Making an informed decision with all the information is part of the pre operative screening examination.

Risky because of age: If she has a fracture hip, she will require to be treated by several specialists as at 92, she has many other morbid conditions.Over half of this age group with hip fracture never return home, 25%end up in skilled nursing facilities, 25%do not survive but still it needs to be taken care of even with poor prognosis.
