Blood tx prior surg: You should get blood transfusion to increase your hemoglobin in a safer level. Surgery can be done- however we try to minimize the possible complication as much as possible. If the tumors are actively bleeding, multiple blood transfusion need to be given before, during and perhaps after surgery. But, yes the best thing to correct the anemia in this case is by stopping the bleeding.

Yes: But the risk is greater and complications could be very serious. If the tumor is leading to the bleeding then surgery may have to be done.

Not elective surgery: 5 gms/dl of hemoglobin is a dangerously low level treated with transfusion. Oral iron can be used if there is no source known for blood loss. You need to be under the care of a physician.
