Sounds like: Sounds like a blocked parotid gland. This is not necessarily a painful problem. Any "lump" should be investigated. Could be one of many problems. Please call your dentist for an appointment for evaluation and rx.

Usually yes: What you are feeling is most likely the outlet of the duct to the parotid gland, not an actual blockage. Sometimes this duct can get irritated if you have spicy or acidly foods or a bad cold. Usually it just resolves on its own within a few days. A true blockage would cause your entire cheek to swell up.

Typically, yes!: What you are describing merits a visit to your dentist and/or physician. Lumps and bumps are not normal! when there is a problem with the salivary glands or ducts, symptoms can include salivary gland swelling, dry mouth, pain, fever, and foul-tasting drainage into the mouth. An evaluation by a medical professional will help determine what your lump is and the best course of treatment.
