A bunion is a boney: Prominence due to the positon of the joint near it and bone buildup, while a ganglion is a fluid filled sac known as a cyst that originates in a joint or tendon sheath or other synovial cavity.

Completely different: A bunion is an enlargement of bone at the side and base of the big toe joint. A ganglion can occur in many different places, but it is fluid-filled and much softer.
