Family doctor = PCP: Yes, you can go to the family physician, a fp or gp (aka pcp= primary care physician) for a bruised toe. In a managed care environment, it usually is the case, as the pt needs a referral from the family doctor or pcp before he can see a specialist --in this case a foot & ankle specialist /podiatrist--. There are many causes for a bruised toe, whether traumatic or otherwise.
