Infection/tumor: Lymph nodes in mediastinum of chest can enlarge with reaction to infections such as TB , histoplasmosis, and coccidiodomycosis. Sometimes bacterial infections in lungs demonstrate reactive lymph nodes. Lymph nodes can also enlarge with tumors such as lymphoma.
