Ultrasound to check: A pulse in the abdomen is probably just blood moving through your aorta with each heart beat. This is normal and can be felt if you relax a thin abdominal wall. However, if you are obese, or if the pulsation is very prominent, this can be an aortic aneurysm which can be dangerous. This is checked by a physician with ultrasound. With family history of aneurysm or smoking, there is higher risk.

Stomach pulse?: Thinner people can often feel the pulse of the abdominal aorta if they press upon the center of the abdomen. We can also sometimes feel this pulse transmitted across the liver, which can sit upon the aorta. But have a doctor evaluate it to make sure it’s normal for you. There could always be an aneurysm, so it’s good to be sure.
