A member asked:

I have a small firm lump in middle abdomen between sternum and umbilicus. could this be a lymph node? or are nodes too deep in the body to palpate?

Unlikely lymph node: That location lump would be unusual for a lymph node. See your doctor for evaluation of the lump. It may be a fatty collection called a lipoma or something else.

Not a lymph node: There are no lymph nodes in the location you describe. I assume the lump you are describing is very superficial and easily felt with light palpation. If so, the most likely cause of the small firm lump you describe is an Epigastric Hernia. At your age no treatment is needed as long as the lump is not tender or painful. However if the lump causes discomfort or grows larger see your physician.
