A member asked:

Why would your gall bladder calcify?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Porcelain gallbladde: Rarely the wall of the gallbladder can develop scarring that then becomes calcified scar tissue. It rarely occurs and used to be a concern for risk of rare gallbladder cancer formation. Sometimes there can be extensive calcium buildup inside the gallbladder causing the false appearance of calcification of the gallbladder on ultrasound or ct scan. Often treated with laparoscopic gallbladder surgery.
