Can flying with a sprained ankle cause a blood clot?

Blood clots : Are generally caused by inactivity or lack of movement. Swelling could contribute or increase risk. So can obesity, taking oral contraception, smoking and pregnancy. If you get up and walk around, keep the foot in motion this would decrease any risk. One could also wear anti embolism stockings.

Yes.: Yes, particularly if you are immobilized in a cast or other device. It is good to get up and walk during flights and do heel pumps while seated to help keep the blood moving through the legs.
