Generic Lexapro (escitalopram): I had a few patients who had the struggle switching to generic wrote a letter of medical necessity and had to fight with the insurance will help with cost the dose may have to be adjusted if you are still needing Klonopin (clonazepam) 3 times a day. Please discuss with your psychiatrist good luck.

Try another generic: Not all generics are alike-there are different manufacturers like teva, torrent etc. You might be fine on another escitalopram. Also the 5, 10 and 20mg tabs are all priced the same. So if you are on 10mg you can get 2 months for the price of one by splitting pills. Citalopram (celexa) works about the same for about half ot my patients but may have more side effects.

Yes: You should discuss this with your doctor. There are several medications in the same class as Lexapro (escitalopram). One in particular is citalopram (brand name celexa). In fact, citalopram contains escitalopram. You may need to work with your doctor to find what works best for you but there is no reason to avoid the generics.
