Do belly button hernias need to be removed?

Maybe: An umbilical hernia can be surgically repaired or observed. If it is causing discomfort or enlarging, then it can be repaired. If it is stable, small, and causing no symptoms or problems then it can be observed. If it is in a young child, then it can be observed as some may resolve on their own.
