Avoid constipation: Have more fiber in your diet so you'll have a regular movement and you won't need a stool softener anymore. The blood may just be from small hemorrhoids or from rectal irritation due to hard dry stools.

High fiber cereal: Try some high fiber cereal. Read the labels: most cereals contain about 2 g of fiber but some have 6-10. Go for those. The big mama is all bran or fiber one with 13-14 g of fiber.
