Stretching: Pain over the greater trochanter (part of the hip on the side of the body) is usually due to greater trochanteric bursitis or inflammation of the bursa (fluid filled sac over the bony prominence) not from a pinched nerve. Often it is difficult to distinguish between a pinched nerve and bursitis. Physical exam and/or injections can help. If it is bursitis, stretching and anti-inflammatories help.

Exam: What nerve is pinched in your greater trochanter? Who provided you with this diagnosis? Recommend a good exam to see what exact structure causes the pain. It may be the bursa or tendon insertions. You may have flat feet and changing footwear or placing insoles may help. If you are obese, losing weight may get rid of the pain but all depends on the exact diagnosis of the pain generator.
