Diagnoses needed.: Osteoporosis is not painful unless a fracture is present. Pain in the hips could be arthritis or tendonitis. X-rays and examination by an orthopaedic surgeon or rheumatologist would be helpful. Thyroid blood tests and possibly an ultrasound examination of the thyroid should be obtained. Bone density testing would be useful in determining the need for osteoporosis treatment.
