Cardiac concern: The primary over-the-counter meds to avoid when you have a cardiac condition are the decongestants (ie. Sudafed). They can increase your heart rate and blood pressure. Most cardiologists are ok with their patients using an antihistamine (ie. Benadryl, (diphenhydramine) claritin, zyrtec) and a basic cough med like Robitussin or mucinex. If your symptoms progress you should see your primary care physician.

If you are having : Chills i advised you to see a physician asap. That's a symptom of an active infection. Possibly antibiotics need to be started. Decongestant need to be avoided. Decongestant free medication like Coricidin hbpa possibility. A pharmacist always can help you.
