Depends on stage &: Your husband's age, psa level, and overall health status are very important in determining what to do. For a gleason grade 7 (3+4 or 4+3), there are different protocols based on whether 3 is the dominant pattern or if 4 is the dominant pattern. No matter which, surgery is one of the best ways to treat, since radiation is usually used after surgery or in inoperable patients.

Surgery or radiother: For gleason 7 either surgery or radiotherapy would be a reasonable management approach. If radiotherapy is chosen, the least side effects and longest term tumor control may be via seed implant although many would advocate external beam treatment. Since the charges for external beam (using imrt technology) are so much greater than for i-125 seed implant make sure you know what is being charged.
