A member asked:

Husband had colon cancer 7 years ago, chemo/radiation/surgery took 12 in, why still serious pot prob?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sphincter Control: First of all, congrats to your husband for being 7 years cancer-free. I need to make some assumptions in order to answer this question, namely, that your husband had ca of the rectum, since it was rx'd with chemo and rt. If so, the connection after the resection may be very close to the rectal sphincter, leading to difficulty controlling bowel movements. I suggest he see his surgeon with you.
