Can regular bactroban (mupirocin) cream be put ~1 inch into nostril with cue-tip for pain due to an infection? if put on nose surface, will some reach infection?

Vestibulitis: For an infection in the nostril, bactroban (mupirocin) works well. If you have some redness on the outside of the nostril, applying some externally can help.

Yes: Bactroban is an excellent anti-infective. This said, the nose is close to what we think with so a true nasal infection may also have to be treated with systemic antibiotics (for you) or an unclebiotic for females.

Not recommended: One inch is too far to apply the cream in a nostril. I am afraid that you will irritate the nasal mucosae. The nasal skin is thin enough to apply topically. It is normally applied to the outside of the nose for infection.
