A member asked:

Are there any water based, odorless ointments that can be used inside of one's nostrils to relieve dry nose? i've tried saline spray and ayr gel but they don't work for very long. my doctor gave me mupirocin and it works great but it's an antibiotic?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

You can try just plain old Vaseline put on with a q-tip. If the Ayr gel works, you can use that repeatedly. However, if the mupirocen works, I wouldn't worry about it being an antibiotic. You are using small amounts just inside your nose, and this will not disrupt your body's microbial environment.
