Yes: Osteomyelitis, infection of bones in your back is a concern. The bacteria can travel in the blood stream (hematogenous spread) and cause an infection elsewhere. See your regular doctor and he or she will know what to do if red flag signs are present.

Meds ?: What medications were you on for the abscess? Back flank pain can be associated with your kidneys, which as you know have nothing in common with your teeth. The meds taken, however, may have irritated something. This is not my area of expertise so you will need to consult with your physician, and possibly a urologist. Feel better soon.
