How long is surgery for carpel tunnel and a thumb fusion?

Dr. Barry Callahan answered

Specializes in Hand Surgery

Variable: The surgical time varies based on type of carpal tunnel release, which thumb joint is being fused, implants being used and of course how fast the surgeon works. But i always stress to patients just because one surgeon takes longer than another really doesn't matter. The key is quality of work and you being comfortable with your surgeon. Hope this helps and good luck.

60-90 minutes: Depending of the type of procedure preformed for both the carpal tunnel and the fusion surgery will usually take less than 90 minutes.
