Depends: Some surgeons apply a splint for several weeks while others just wrap with gauze for a few days. No evidence that one is better than the other.

Depends: Hand surgeons hand different protocols. I have patients in a light dressing with the fingers showing for two days. The bandage is removed and patients are allowed to shower. Most patients can resume light activities within a couple of days and full activity within two to three weeks.
