Bother you how: There is typically some surgical pain after carpal tunnel surgery. Also, recovery can be variable and is often dependent on the duration and severity of the symptoms that you had prior to surgery. If the symptoms persist after several months then check back in with your surgeon.

Other possible cause: Carpal tunnel develops because of compression of the median nerve in a confined space. The procedure eliminates the pressure on the nerve but does not affect any associated causative factors such as tendonitis that can continue to be painful. Numbness and parathesias should resolve with surgery unless the nerve is compressed at a second level such as the proximal forearm or thoracic outlet.
