What is the best remedy for bedsores?

Pressure Relief: A bedsore will only heal once the pressure that caused the wound is eliminated. Use of proper support surfaces & correct positioning of patient are vital to healing a bedsore. Certain wound care products can be used to help with pain & infection control (& possibly speed healing rate) but they won't correct the underlying cause of the problem (unrelieved pressure on an area of the body).

Prevention: The best: Prevention from happening and/or from getting worse into advanced stages. Appropriate wound management: cleaning, dressing, and damaged tissue removal (debridement). Stage one: water and mild soap cleaning. Open wound: Normal Saline cleaning. Dressing, different types: will keep the wound moist, is barrier for infection. Removing the dead tissue will help with healing and preventing the infection.

Evaluation : Ideally have someone familiar with the treatment and prevention of bed sores evaluate you. Some sores need surgery. Some just need dressing changes. Some need nothing other than to relieve the pressure that is placed on them
