Inflammation: Since appendicitis is also inflammation, it sounds as though you will require a ct scan to know for sure.

Ultrasound has limit: Inflammation can be from appendicitis or an infection somewhere nearby or from irritated bowel. U/s can't differentiate. Best test is ct scan of the abdomen/ pelvis. Having a doctor aware of the details about the pain and allowing an examination will help determine the true diagnosis as well.
