Why doesn't my doctor do an mri for pinched nerve?

Many times: Symptoms of a pinched nerve from disk disease will resolve with time. Your doctor may be giving you time to see if your symptoms get better before imaging with an mri. This is good medical practice and generally advised. However, you should ask your doctor about this so you can know what his/her thoughts are.

Pinched nerve: It's up to your doctor's clinical impression to order the appropriate test. For pinched nerve, sometimes we will order nerve test and sometimes we order MRI or combination of both. Please discuss it further with your doctor.
