A member asked:

Have chronic pain/had shoulder surgery/wake up 4 pm ea day/take more exalgo or new doc. wants me to try seroquel (quetiapine) 50mg./diabetic/overweight/adrenal too?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Avoid Seroquel (quetiapine): If you are diabetic and overweight seroquel (quetiapine) stands a good chance of worsening both. If you need something strong to sleep and your doctor sees no contraindication, try trazodone. I usually prescribe 50 mg, 1-4 at bedtime as needed for sleep and have the patient figure out the dose within that range that works for them, just enough to give you a good nights sleep, but not so much that you hungover the next day. Best wishes to you.
