Ask him/her: Depends on the reason you need your tooth 'filed'. If the tooth is simply chipped, there shouldn't be a problem. If your tooth is in perfect shape, but you want to have the tooth capped for looks, etc. He or she may not wish to do this without parent's permission? Finally, if you're not done growing, he or she may have a reason to hold off.
