It is possible: Gerd/esophagitis is a chronic problem like hypertension and diabetes. If you treat it, most of the time, you can resolve the symptoms, but once the medication is stopped, it is more than likely that the symptoms will return at some point. Your doctor may consider trying to take you off of the medication or try alternate day therapy.
