Antibiotics : If there's pain and swelling you need antibiotics. You could have a dry socket if the pain feels deep and there's an odor from the extraction site. Dry socket can be very painful- as bad or worse than a toothache. You would need to see oral surgeon who did extraction to treat. Dry sockets occur when clot is loss or there was a defect in your clotting or u smoke. Needs flushing out n packed.

Dry socket?: Pain three days after oral surgery sounds like a dry socket rather than an infection. See your surgeon to enable him to examine you and determine if you need treatment for either.

Postop Infection: You haven't mentioned what kind of oral surgery you had, or where it was in your mouth. A true postop infection usually takes more than three days to develop. However, it's possible it's a true infection and, if so, you should be treated with antibiotics and possibly drainage. You should return to see your oral surgeon and allow him or her to thoroughly evaluate and treat your condition. Good luck.
