Difficult urinating: Make an immediate appointment with your pediatrician or a pediatric urologist. For relief you can place him in a warm bath and have him urinate in the bath. The warm water will help him relax.

Urinary Issues: First: make sure he is drinking well. When bladder is full, the urge comes. Second: make sure he is not constipated. If there is hard stool sitting in rectum or lower colon, dysfunctional voiding happens. Third: anatomic abnormality of urethral opening, called posterior urethral valve can cause difficult urination, urine stream becomes narrow, jet like, child has to force to pee. Talk to his doc.
