Septoplasty failure: Usually, when a septoplasty fails, it means that nasal breathing isn't improved as much as you might like or there might be a cisible change to the nose that is not desirable. Sometimes this is because the septum bends after surgery and occluded the airway or you can have unanticipated collapse of the weaker cartilages that make up the tip of the nose. It can possibly be corrected with revision.

Should be OK: If the septoplasty is performed without complications such as a hematoma or fistula, there should be little if any consequences to the procedure other than diminished nasal airway obstruction and improved airflow.

Serious: Save procedure. With ANY operation, serious complications can ensue. Find an ENT doc who is willing to thoroughly discuss this and other questions about surgery.
