Maybe: The incision for the septoplasty is typically made just inside the nostril along the base of the septum. As this area heals, there is frequently some stiffening and even numbness of the tissue. The undissolved stiches can make this a bit worse.

Potentially: You can expect swelling after an extensive septal surgery; sutures that were placed can accentuate it somewhat, but the majority is likely related to the surgery itself. Close followup with your surgeon is necessary so he/she can help manage the swelling in the postoperative period.

Not likely...: ... However, the septoplasty and inferior turbinate surgery certainly can. Most absorbable stitches fall out at a week. If they are still present, your doctor can trim them out. This should help any local irritation, but your mild discomfort, numbness and stiffness of the tip will need more time to resolve.

Septum turbs: The stitches may be bothersome but the stiffness and discomfort may be from the surgery itself. Discuss these issues with your surgeon at your next postop visit.
