A member asked:

Could emdr be used to recover repressed or forgotten memories?

Should it?: Emdr was designed to help people with ptsd (veterans were the test samples) move past traumatic experiences and panic/locked in behaviors and symptoms related to those traumas. The data doesn't really support its use for recovering memories or enhancing the details of forgotten memories. Hypnotherapy has more applications there. But the treatment is not without risk. Seek a certified therapist.
