Repression of most: Early childhood memories (before the age of 5) is normal. All defense mechanisms, like repression are normal defenses when used in moderation. Any of them is over used can be detrimental to our mental health. If someone has repressed all memories before the age of 18 for instance that would be a sign of over use of the defense mechanism.
