It depends what part of the brain involved in the stroke. The frontal and temporal lobes are the main site for cognitive function and memory. If the stroke does not affect heavily these areas, memory will recover quickly. If the stroke involves the parietal or occipital lobes, memory is preserved.

Not feasible to express the variations of stroke damage in terms of odds. Best to express that brain recovery proceeds over 18 months, and speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy are all excellent interventions to accelerate potential recovery.
