Yes, and Yes: People can have repressed memories when they experience very frightening, painful, or horrifying things -- which means the possibilities are endless. The memories may be "real", yet retrieval of these may be layered with all kinds of things over the years. In my practice i find it more helpful to deal with the patient's experience as it simply is, and to facilitate recovery into fulfilling life.
