If not treated : Carpal tunnel syndrome is a compressed nerve. If left untreated the nerve can become permanently damaged as a result of prolonged oxygen, blood and nutrient deprivation. This is why treatment of cts is so important.

Usually reversible: If treated conservatively with a splint and vitamin b-6 supplements, about a third respond nicely, but some may require steroid injection or decompressive surgery. Outcomes are at least 95% successful.
