Not true: Muscle atrophy is only permanent in severe long standing cases. The nerve may not regenerate and restimulate the muscle in these cases.

Nerve damage: Muscle atrophy from cts is due to nerve damage and may not improve even with surgery. However, surgery can prevent further damage.
