Carpal tunnel: The median nerve that runs through the carpal tunnel suffers when subjected to abnormal pressures. One source of pressure can be swelling of tissues, including tendon linings in the carpal tunnel, during pregnancy. Good news: after delivery, symptoms typically resolve. The third trimester is the worst, and ordinarily a safer time to inject the wrist if needed to provide short term relief.
