VIRUSES=removed: Most viruses are removed by a healthy immune system after antibodies are produced to recognize them. It usually takes <1 week for viruses in the blood to be cleared. However, some viruses can escape and live in the body in various locations. E.G. Hiv can live in host white blood cells, herpes/chicken pox (varicella) viruses hide in nerve tissue. Hepatitis lives in liver, & virus is shed in blood.
